Tajikistan switches to electricity supply on prepayment basis.
An automated system for monitoring and recording electricity consumption will be launched in Dushanbe in the near future and the electricity will be supplied to the citizens only on prepayment.
The government of Tajikistan issued a resolution on the introduction of a billing (automated) system to monitor and record the electricity supplied to consumers.
“It was ordered to take the necessary measures to introduce a billing system and reduce the level of losses, as well as raise the level of collection of funds for electricity and, as a result, submit a report to the government of the Republic of Tajikistan,” the government said.
It should be noted that the automated system of electricity metering has been working for several years, however, payment is made on actual consumption. (24.kg/Business World Magazine)
