The Ministry of Finance of Kyrgyzstan and the Eurasian Development Bank signed an agreement on granting an investment loan from the Eurasian Stabilization and Development Fund to finance the project “Commissioning of the second hydroelectric unit of Kambarata HPP-2” for $110 million.
In addition to the construction and commissioning of the second hydrounit of the plant with the capacity of 120 MW, the construction of an open 500 kV switchgear is planned, which will release the “blocked” capacity of the first unit and receive additional 40 MW.
Financing is provided for a period of 20 years, taking into account a five-year grace period for the payment of principal amount.
At present, due to the limitation of the capacity of the 110 kV transmission line between Kambaratinskaya HPP-2 and Kurpsai HPP, the first unit carries a load of 80-90 MW out of 120 possible.
As a result, the total capacity of Kambarata HPP-2 will be 240 MW. (24.kg/Business World Magazine)
