GDP growth rate in Turkmenistan amounted to 6.2% in 2016, the country’s Ministry of Economy and Development said.
The growth rate has increased by 1.1% in the industrial sector, by 4.3% – in construction, by 10.7% – in transportation and communication sector, by 14.1% in trade, by 9.9% in agriculture and by 10.4% in the sphere of services.
The volume of investments spent at the expense of all sources of funding amounted to 59.5 billion Turkmen manats in 2016, up by 0.4% YoY.
Turkmenistan ranks fourth in the world in terms of the volume of natural gas reserves, according to BP. Currently, the country is able to export natural gas to China and Iran with the possibility of increasing the supply volume. This is while Russia has suspended the purchase of Turkmen gas.
