The State Tax Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan held an expanded meeting devoted to 2016 results, available shortcomings, as well as objectives for 2017.
The participants of the meeting discussed the essence and content of the report of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at an enlarged meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to the results of socio-economic development of the country in 2016 and major priority directions of the economic program for 2017. Based on the set up directions, they considered priority tasks of tax bodies for the current year.
Due to the announcement of 2017 as the “Year of dialogue with people and human interests”, the focus at the board meeting was paid to ensuring open dialogue of state tax services with citizens, fair consideration of each case and resolving problems.
Identifying gaps in the system through in-depth analysis of shortcomings, the areas of which they concern, providing practical assistance to the citizens and businesses, earning their trust, these were defined as paramount tasks.
The meeting critically examined current methods to further increase the tax base, enforcement of the targets. The state tax bodies have been commissioned to completely revise the evaluation system.
Each manager has been entrusted with appropriate task to study the existing shortcomings directly on spot, instead of sitting in the office, providing practical assistance to economically insolvent and inactive business entities and restoration of their activities, assistance in state registration of citizens wishing to engage in entrepreneurial activity, to explain them how to properly and effectively use the benefits.
Based on the fact that recently adopted presidential decree has canceled all unplanned and counter-checks, the meeting identified specific objectives for implementation of preventive measures for elimination of possible mistakes and shortcomings in the activities of business entities.
It was also decided to work out a separate program in order to radically reduce the interference of state and controlling bodies into the activity of business entities, enhance the protection of rights and legitimate interests of entrepreneurs.
Specific instructions were given to introduce necessary changes in the organizational structure of the state tax service, as it demanded critical review, the training of qualified personnel and raising the transparency in the tax sphere. (UzReport/Business World Magazine)
