An exploration is underway at Turkmenistan’s largest Galkynysh gas field and the adjacent areas, Oil and Gas Complex of Turkmenistan said in a message.
Turkmenistan’s Turkmengeology State Corporation has finished drilling of the first exploration well at the Chelekbay site, located close to the Galkynysh field.
As a result, a commercial flow of high-pressure natural gas was obtained at a depth of 4,548-4,556 meters. According to experts, this well will give one million cubic meters of natural gas per day.
Also, the local geologists have drilled the fifth exploration well at a depth of 4,100 meters at the Dervezeken site, located in the Mary region. The drilling works are being carried out using Chinese equipment.
According to Gaffney, Cline & Associates, which audits Turkmenistan’s Galkynysh field and the adjacent Yashlar field, these two sites have an estimated total reserve of 26.2 trillion cubic meters of gas. With the newly discovered Garakel field, the block’s reserves rise to 27.4 trillion cubic meters. (Trend/Business World Magazine)
