The second meeting of the joint intergovernmental Turkmen-Qatari Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation was held in Doha, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan said.
Heads and representatives of state structures of the two countries attended the meeting.
At the meeting it was noted that today “a solid foundation for all-round boost of mutually beneficial cooperation with great potential” had been created.
The sides discussed issues of expansion of cooperation in such areas as fuel and energy complex, financial and banking, trade, industry and transport.
The Turkmen government delegation was also received by the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1996.
In April Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited the representatives of the Qatari business community to participate in the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI).
According to him, a new energy highway is designed to ensure long-term supply of natural gas in the major countries of South-East Asia, contribute to solving the economic problems of the region, important social and humanitarian issues. (Trend/Business World Magazine)
