Agriculture contributes 12% to Ukraine’s GDP and every fifth Ukrainian is working in this area. This has been reported by NGO AgroReformsUA, which aims to implement effective reforms in the agrarian sector of Ukraine.
“In 2015, the share of agricultural products in the foreign trade of Ukraine reached 38%. This means that the sale of food products brings significant income to state budget and private businesses. Income from sales of corn, sunflower oil, and other commodities has a positive impact on the balance of payments of Ukraine and serves as a support for unstable economy and even the hryvnia exchange rate”, AgroReformsUA notes.
