Agrarians of Belarus completed the mass planting campaign of winter grain crops, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Belarus declared.
Thus, the general planted areas under winter grains in the country totaled 1.3 million ha (100.5% of the plan). In particular, Mogilev region planted winter crops throughout 113% of the plan, Minsk region – 106.8%, Brest region – 104.5%, Gomel region – 100%, Grodno region – 98.9%, and Vitebsk region – 80.6%.
According to the Scientific and Practical Center for arable farming of the National Academy of Sciences, despite some lagging of the planting campaign terms in Vitebsk region, most agricultural households of the country already completed planting works in optimum agro-technical terms. Condition of winter crops will mainly depend on the winter weather and climatic terms.
According to recent monitoring data, in southern regions of the country winter grains were somewhat depressed due to dry soil. However, rains should improve the situation, the Scientific and Practical Center explained. (APK-Inform/Business World Magazine)
