Belarus’ largest cement producer OAO Krasnoselskstroymaterialy has implemented a new cement drying technology based on burning dried, cut and separated peat, the Energy Ministry of Belarus reported.
The new fuel will save the cement producer an estimated $2.5-3 million. In 2015 the company started using peat in the framework of an import substitution project. In 2016 Krasnoselskstroymaterialy plans to burn 120,000 tons of dried granulated peat. Peat consumption is expected to grow to 180,000 tons a year.
The cement manufacturer is expected to save an estimated $2.5-3 million on the difference in price between imported natural gas, coal and oil fuel.
Krasnoselskstroymaterialy was founded in 1914. The state holds a majority stake in the cement producing company. Krasnoselskstroymaterialy joint-stock company produces cement and lime. (Prime-TASS/Business World Magazine)
