The Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) has reduced import duties from 5.43% to 5.3% of the customs value of goods. The new rates became effective on September 1.
The move was approved by the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) and reflects Russia’s WTO commitments.
Although Belarus is not a WTO member, the country still has to comply with the EEC tariff policy.
Starting on September 1, EEU states are supposed to reduce import duties with regard to 1,780 FEACN commodity positions (foodstuffs, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, chemical products, oil products, mechanical engineering products).
For instance, the import customs duty on herring and codfish is down from 6.3% to 5%, salmon – down from 5.8% to 4.4%, some grape wines – down from 14.4% to 12.5%, kitchen dishes, doors and windows – down from 11.9% to 9.2%, household refrigerators – down from 15% to 13.6%, microwave ovens – down from 14% to 12%, bricks, insulated pipelines, electric cars – down from 17% to 16%.
