As part of the Technical Upgrading and Revamping Program, Transneft – Kozmino Port got down to two 100,000 square meter tank construction at the tank farm.
A floating roof will be used in high tech structures of the new tanks, just as in other tanks with a similar volume, being operated in the tank farm of Kozmino Port. The roof rises when the oil volume increases and dips when the volume decreases. Floating roof tanks virtually eliminate gas space and prevent evaporation losses. These parameters meet high environmental safety requirements.
So far, laying down of the macadam basement for the first tank foundation was finalized; soil is being excavated for the second tank. Installation of the first-tank metal structures is scheduled to begin in September. At the same time, specialists are taking efforts to protect the tank farm territory from geological processes by building a supporting wall of gabions.
Construction will comprise of the installation of the technological equipment of tanks and process pipelines. In addition, work will be performed to lay down sewerage, water supply (fire mains and foam lines) and power supply networks; efforts will be taken to set up electrochemical protection, lightning protection and earthing systems. The plan is to install the total of 77 structures. (Energyland/Business World Magazine)
