According to preliminary data from the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat), in 2016/2017 MY the planted areas under sunflower seed in Russia will increase by 7% compared with the previous season – to 7.5 million ha.
The reporting result will become the second largest one after the record index in 2011/2012 MY (7.6 million ha). At the same time, analysts estimate the general harvest of sunflower seed in Russia in a new season at the record level of 10.26 million tons in clean weight (up by 8% compared with the current MY).
