Russia’s cabinet of ministers has submitted the agreement on extension of trade and economic ties with Jordan to the State Duma (lower house of parliament) for ratification as the text of the document has been posted in the Duma’s electronic database.
The agreement was inked by representatives of the two countries’ governments on November 18, 2015 in Moscow.
In 2014, the trade turnover between Russia and Jordan totaled $543 million, backed by a three-fold increase of exports of Russia’s fuel and energy complex, with crude and petroleum products accounting for 52.5% of the total volume of exports worth $277.9 million. Exports of Russia’s agricultural products accounted for 30.8% of total supplies to Jordan in 2014.
In 2015, the trade turnover between Russia and Jordan dropped by half to $259 million. Agricultural products accounted for 51% of the total volume of Russia’s exports to Jordan last year. (TASS/Business World Magazine)
