CEO of the national oil and gas company Naftogaz Andrei Kobolev has pledged the country will have enough gas in the coming winter.
“As of now, the country’s underground gas storage facilities hold about 10.3 billion cubic meters of gas. We plan to have about 14.5 billion cubic meter by the end of the season”, he said. “According to our estimates, this will be enough”.
According to Kobolev, gas storage activities are currently being financed by Naftogaz.
“Starting from August, we plan to begin financing from an EBRD loan. We hope World Bank loan will be available from September”, he said.
According to Naftogaz’ latest statements, minimal gas reserves at the storage facilities are to reach 14-14.5 billion cubic meters by the beginning of the heating season.
Currently, Ukraine imports gas only from Europe, namely from Hungary, Slovakia and Poland. (TASS/Business World Magazine)
