In January-May, Russia increased cereal crops export volumes by 50.1% YoY, to 12.275 million tons, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) reported.
In the reporting period wheat and meslin traditionally formed the basis of grain export supplies – 8.338 million tons, up by 91.7% YoY. The exports of corn grew by 71.7%, to 2.751 million tons, and sunflower seed – up 83%, to 67.7 thousand tons.
At the same time, in the first five months of 2016 some decline of barley exports was observed: by 48.8%, to 1.012 million tons, and rice – by 9.9%, to 89.9 thousand tons.
As for the export volumes of other plant growing commodities from Russia, the foreign supplies of wheat and wheat-rye flour increased by 27.2%, to 114 thousand tons.
In the reporting period Russia increased the import volumes of palm oil and its fractions by 21.6% YoY, to 365 thousand tons. (APK-Inform/Business World Magazine)
