On June 27 – July 3, hot weather with precipitation was observed in Moldova. The average weekly air temperature was 3.4-4.6 C above the norm and reached 23.0- 24.8 C. Maximum air temperature increased to + 34 C. The minimum air temperature lowered to +16 C.
Precipitation during the week was mainly in the form of downpour and fell unevenly across the territory. Precipitation amount reached 15-40 mm at 40% of the territory (100-200% of the weekly norm) and 45-107 mm at 25% of the territory (70-125% of monthly norm). In other regions of the country precipitation amount did not exceed 3-10 mm (20-60% of weekly norm).
Precipitation in the form of heavy rain with hail was observed in some places causing crops damage. In general, weather conditions were satisfactory for crops growth and development.
Wax and full ripeness were noted in winter crops fields in most regions of Moldova. Corn continued to undergo leaf-formation stage. Barley was already at the full ripeness stage. (UkrAgroConsult/Business World Magazine)
