Turkey is ready to produce low-orbit (LEO) and gestational (GEO) satellites for Azerbaijan, as soon as the operating time of Azersky and Azerspace-1 spacecrafts expires, the Minister of Transport, Maritime and Communications of Turkey Ahmet Arslan said.
Arslan said that as a part of state-owned Turkish Aerospace Industry (TAI) there was a center of testing and integrating space-based systems (USET), where it was possible to assemble and test various types of satellites.
“This center is already underway for the production of the first national satellite”, said the minister. “In this regard, USET experts can assemble communication satellites and spacecrafts for exploring the Earth for Azerbaijan”.
The minister added that Turkey was ready to provide Azerbaijan with resources of its LEO satellite Gokturk-2.
At the same time, according to the minister, it is possible to exchange resources and expand the coverage of the Turkish satellite geolocation system on the territory of Azerbaijan.
Arslan also suggested cooperation between universities of the two countries on designing of CanSat mini satellites. (Trend/Business World Magazine)
