Moldova will receive additional financial support of 150 million euros, in order to modernize a section of the Chisinau ring road and rehabilitate the M1 Chisinau-Leuseni segment.
The funds will be provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The government has approved the draft law for the ratification of the Agreement to this end.
The amending agreement provides for an additional financing of 150 million euros to the 150-million euro loan contracted in 2024. The resources will enable the modernization and widening of section 2 of the Chisinau ring road (M2 road), with a length of 9.4 km, as well as the rehabilitation and widening of the M1 Chisinau-Leuseni segment, which ensures the road connection with Romania over a distance of 84 km.
At the Cabinet meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea said that these roads were part of the trans-European transport network TEN-T and played an important role in connecting Moldova to the road infrastructure of the European Union through the Leuseni-Albita border-crossing point.
According to the authorities, the implementation of the project will contribute to improving traffic conditions, reducing travel time and transport costs, increasing road safety and supporting regional economic development. (Moldpres)
