Lithuania will purchase 936 Patria armoured vehicles from Finland under a decision approved by the State Defence Council on May 27.
President Gitanas Nauseda said 300 of the vehicles were expected to be acquired until 2030.
He added that one of Lithuania’s requirements was for part of the production process to take place inside the country.
“We could integrate into the production chain of these armoured vehicles,” the president said.
The Patria armoured vehicles are intended to strengthen Lithuania’s military capabilities as the country continues to increase defence spending and expand its armed forces in response to regional security concerns. (LRT)
