Clothing, shoe, and accessory sellers have begun to massively close stores in Russian shopping centers: in more than 200 out of 800 facilities across Russia, the share of space occupied by them has decreased by 10–15%. This follows from a survey by the Union of Shopping Centers (USC), the results of which were reviewed by “Kommersant”. In approximately 21% of the country’s shopping centers, fashion retailers account for 30-50% of the space, and in 15% – less than half. There are only 5% of objects where more than half of the space is allocated for fashion retail.
The trend towards reducing the share of fashion retailers in shopping centers has become particularly noticeable due to the departure of a large number of brands from the market. In 2025, at least 28 brands closed their stores, recalls Yevgenia Khakberdiyeva, regional director of the retail real estate department at NF Group. Some of them completely closed (Incity, Deseo, Etam, Mudo, Megatop), some are in the process (Yollo, Face Code, Cosareve, Button Blue), and some decided to go online (I Am Studio, Prav.da, Inspire Girls). One of the reasons for the business closure was a decrease in consumer demand. According to the “Check Index”, the number of clothing and shoe purchases in 2025 decreased by 11% year-on-year, with the offline figure dropping by 17% and the online one rising by 9%. The average check for such products was about 3,000 rubles and increased roughly at the level of inflation (The Moscow Times).
