In 2025, nearly 568,000 Russians were declared bankrupt in court, and another 61,300 citizens received this status without a court hearing — through a simplified procedure. This follows the data from “Fedresurs”, which cites RBC. As a result, the total number of financially insolvent Russians since the introduction of the judicial bankruptcy institution in 2015 and the extrajudicial mechanism in 2020 has reached 2.22 million people.
In 2025, the number of judicial bankruptcies of individuals and individual entrepreneurs with subsequent asset sales was 31.5% higher than in 2024 (431,800). At the same time, the number of cases where a citizen’s declaration of financial insolvency led to a restructuring of his debts decreased. Last year, 38,000 people received court approval for a debt restructuring, compared to 50,000 in 2024. At the same time, creditors have become more willing to agree to payment installments and debt deferrals. According to statistics, the number of such agreements in 2025 increased by 2.3 times compared to the level of 2024 — to 3,129 cases (The Moscow Times).
