The Russian market for microelectronics and electronic components shrank by a quarter last year and continues to depend on foreign supplies. According to the Association of Electronics Developers and Manufacturers (ARPE), the volume of the electronic components market – chips, electronics – decreased by 25% at the end of the year and amounted to 288 billion rubles. Of this volume, only 26% is accounted for by Russian-developed products – 74.9 billion rubles. The rest consists of imported supplies, said CNews Executive Director of ARPE Ivan Pokrovsky. According to him, the production of domestic electronics has been declining for the second consecutive year. According to ARPE, the market has regressed to the levels of 2021–2022. In 2021, the volume was 259 billion rubles, in 2022 – 256.8 billion. In 2024, the market temporarily rose to 384.6 billion, but the share of Russian products then also did not exceed 26.7%. The maximum value was recorded in 2023 – 32%, after which a decline began.
“The share of Russian components directly depends on the demand from enterprises of the defense-industrial complex. In civilian markets, it is negligible. At the same time, the financing of the state defense order is decreasing, and the share of foreign components in the defense industry is increasing as new generations of military equipment are introduced,” explained Pokrovsky. The main customer for electronic components remains the defense complex – it accounted for 43% of the market. The main product on the market (53%) are semiconductor components, primarily various chips (The Moscow Times).
