A number of 17 producers and exporters of fruits from Moldova presented their apples, plums, sweet cherries and apricots at the specialized exhibition, Fruit Logistica 2024, staged in Berlin, Germany, on February 7-9.
Attending the event, Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea stressed the commitment and support of the government for the agricultural sector and for the exports of fruits from Moldova.
The executive director of the Moldova Fruct Association, Iurie Fala, highlighted the country’s potential of export and the advantages of the partnership with Moldova. At the current edition of the exhibition, the Moldova Fruct Association organized, for the first time ever, the event, Taste without Frontiers, at its stand, which brought together importers of fruits and representatives of networks of shops. He emphasized Moldova’s progress in the diversification of the exports of fresh fruits and promotion of the international cooperation.
Moldova Fruct has been participating in the Fruit Logistica exhibition since 2012. Presently, Moldova extended its exports of fruits in 42 states. According to statistics data, in 2023, Moldova reached the figure of 78,000 tons of fruits exported, ranking third in the world. At the same time, the country recorded increases in the export of grapes – 77,000 tons and sweet cherries – 12.5-fold more to EU. The export of apples to European countries registers a growth as well, with first-ever deliveries to Sweden and the United Kingdom, as well as an active presence in Romania. Such destinations as markets from Asia and the Middle East have become already traditional for exporters of apples from Moldova and their share has gradually increased in the last five years.
