In Istanbul, Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration and Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine, met with Omer Bolat, Minister of Trade of Turkiye and Abdulkadir Uraloglu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkiye. The meeting was held as part of the Ukraine Recovery Forum.
“Together with representatives of our leading transport and construction companies – Ukrzaliznytsia, the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, and the State Agency for Reconstruction and Infrastructure Development – we discussed practical steps to engage Turkish business in the reconstruction. In particular, we focused on the development of proposals and design solutions for the water area and seaports of Ukraine. We can see the willingness of companies to invest in the development of maritime logistics and infrastructure. Also, roads. Turkish business has extensive experience, including in the construction of the Zaporizhzhia and Kremenchuk bridges, and has proven to be a reliable partner. We are also ready to cooperate in the event of the resumption of air traffic. Turkish government and business structures have deep technical expertise and experience in rebuilding infrastructure after the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. At the same time, we have an important experience of working with international financial institutions and organisations. We are confident that such mutually beneficial cooperation will help boost the export potential of both countries, expand logistics and foreign economic relations. As part of the Forum, the Ukrainian-Turkish Reconstruction Task Force was established. It identified the following priority areas of cooperation:
– Restoration of road infrastructure and construction of temporary bridges and overpasses on key routes;
– Projects to restore and develop water transport infrastructure;
– Protection of critical infrastructure and housing reconstruction;
