Valcinet-Ocnita-Balti-Ungheni-Chisinau-Cainari railway corridor, with a length of 446 km, will be restored thanks to a loan worth 23 million euros from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The government approved the ratification of an Agreement in this regard on October 4.
According to the government’s communication and protocol department, the financial means are to be distributed in two installments of 12 and 11 million euros, respectively, and will be used to change sleepers, rails and ballast at critical sections.
The project’s implementation will increase the degree of safety in railway traffic, increase the speed of movement of passenger and freight trains and will contribute to reducing the rotation time of trains. (Moldpres/Business World Magazine)
