The Chiriac family from southern Moldova has won a silver medal and a bronze one at the international cheese competition, Mondial du Fromage, held in the Tours city, France, this month.
“At the exhibition, Eudochia Chiriac presented four types of cheese, which competed along with another 1,400 types of cheese from over ten countries. Thus, for the first time ever, the types of cheese produced in Moldova were recognized internationally,” the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) wrote.
The Chiriac family benefited from support within the LEADER Project for Rural Moldova, modernizing the equipment of processing, thus increasing the volume and quality of the products.
In 2021, following the support provided within the Solidarity Fund PL, the family managed to set its own section of modular production and to purchase the needed equipment for operationalization and automation. Thus, the family business improved its production processes, contributing to the economic development of the Taraclia district, as well as of the entire country.
The LEADER Project for Rural Moldova is financed by USAID Moldova and Polish Aid and is implemented by Solidarity Fund PL in Moldova, in partnership with the National LEADER Network and in close cooperation with the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry.
“USAID backs the beneficiaries within the LEADER network, in order to contribute to the development and reviving of the rural areas,” USAID added. (Moldpres/Business World Magazine)
