Moldova will have direct flights from Chisinau to Iceland destinations. The Cabinet has approved the initiation of negotiations on the draft Agreement between the governments of Moldova and Iceland on air services.
The agreement aims at setting cooperation relations in the air transport and to strengthen diplomatic and economic relations between the states.
The document sets out the principles governing the operation of bilateral air services, namely: aviation security, tariffs, taxes and certificates of airworthiness and competence. The agreement also establishes the rights for the conduct of air transport of the parties and the procedure for the authorization of airlines.
According to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, collaboration with Iceland will have economic benefits for the country by increasing passenger traffic, as well as increasing competitiveness on the domestic aviation market. (Moldpres/Business World Magazine)
