The endowment of the social institutions and public spaces, the exodus of young people from rural settlements, the lack of streets’ illumination and of the water and sewerage networks, as well as the need to rehabilitate the local and regional roads have been just some of the subjects discussed by Prime Minister Dorin Recean at a meeting with the local public authorities of the northern Soldanesti district.
The mayors set forth the problems faced locally, such as the low salaries, lack of labour force, inefficient management of waste, as well as the need to introduce the green tariff in the energy sector. The discussions continued with consideration of the strategy of reform of the local public administration, especially with the explanation of the process of voluntary amalgamation of settlements.
PM Dorin Recean discussed with the local authorities the importance to turn to good account the financial sources available for the implementation of regional development projects and encouraged them to register for programmes with national or foreign financing.
“I am happy with the active representatives of the local public administration, which got financing within the European Village Programme. There are already hundreds of projects carried out – playgrounds arranged, streets’ illumination, kindergartens constructed and optimized from the energy viewpoint. It is important that we have a continuity of this programme, extend it and raise the level of the financing,” Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.
Also, the PM highlighted the progress made by Moldova one year after receiving the status of country candidate for accession to EU, touching upon measures taken by the governmental team to this end, as well as the imperativeness of everybody’s involvement.
“In writing this story, the effort of each of us – from the authorities to the citizens – is essential for us to manage to align with the EU standards, to modernize the settlements, consolidate the state’s institutions, switch to the next phase of the accession process and to have a better living,” Prime Minister Dorin Recean stressed.
