Over 12,000 citizens from the southern Cimislia district have access to quality road infrastructure. Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu visited the recently rehabilitated road segment, which crossed the settlements Satul Nou, Selemet, Sagaidacul Nou and Mihailovca.
The road has a length of about 15 km, and about 156 million lei was invested for its renovation. The money was allocated from the Road Fund’s budget and the project envisages the construction of five bridges.
“There are 12,000 beneficiaries. I envy them, as there are many villages where we should come up with such projects. This is not only a project in infrastructure, but a project, which is to generate other economic activities as well. Just here, in the neighbourhood, there is an agro-food market and the mayor used to say that the quality of this road gives citizens possibility to be as mobile as possible: to come to Chisinau in 45 minutes. These are European roads; we bring Europe home, we make it here, at home,” Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu said.
“The road was rehabilitated during three years. The period was longer, taking into account that this road crosses more villages and it is necessary to rehabilitate also the entries in yards, the draining ditches for rain waters, the wear was changed and what is most important – road safety systems were provided – crosswalks, road marking. This will lead to the covering of this segment in safety. And this because a good road is a safe road – a road on which people move in comfort,” Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Lilia Dabija said.
In 2023, the overall budget of the Road Fund is 1.4 billion lei. The financial means are meant for the maintenance and repair of the national public roads with a total length of 5,951 km. (Moldpres/Business World Magazine)
