For the first time, a group of members of the Moldova Fruct Association took part in Freskon Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Trade Event on April 23-25 in Thessaloniki, Greece.
Six fruit producers and exporters, participants of the country stand “Moldova – a special taste” presented Moldovan fruits at the exhibition with the aim of promoting them on foreign markets, positioning Moldova as a country that had orchards and modern post-harvest infrastructure and could provide high quality fresh fruit.
Participation in the event in Greece was possible thanks to the support of the USAID Rural Competitiveness and Resilience Project in Moldova, the Western NIS Enterprise Fund (WNISEF) and the Investment Agency.
“In the previous editions of the exhibition we were present only as visitors, while this time we were happy to participate as exhibitors. Thanks to the investments we made this year in the procurement of a hydrocooler and cherry sorting line, we were ready to meet the demands of importers and were willing to present offers for any international market. During the Freskon exhibition, we have already managed to discuss with various importers and we have seen a real interest from the Baltic countries, Germany, Italy and the Nordic countries,” says director of the Staragro Group company Mariana Paslaru.
At the same time, at the exhibition, participants had unique access to the “FreshCon Market” platform, where producers and exporters met with representatives of major supermarket chains to negotiate commercial partnerships.
“Each involvement in international fairs brings added value to our producers and exporters, broadening their horizons, developing their skills and knowledge necessary to advance in the field of innovations, and increase the competitiveness of Moldovan products at the international level”, says Iurie Fala, director executive of Moldova Fruct.
