300 DJI Mavic 3T Thermal drones have been sent to the forefront’s hottest spots: 160 copters – to the east, 85 – to Zaporizhzhia and another 55 – to Kherson. The drones were purchased thanks to joint fundraising for the army as part of the UNITED24 initiative. In just three days, the platform managed to raise almost UAH 61 million.
“The drones have already shown their effectiveness on the battlefield. They allow for reconnaissance, artillery targeting and, most importantly, saving the lives of our military. The Army of Drones project has grown into a major state support for the development of UAVs in Ukraine. Together with the Ministry of Defense, the General Staff of UAF and the Government team, we are approaching this issue systematically. We simplify processes, remove bureaucracy, and help provide the Armed Forces with drones. All this is to ensure that there are hundreds of times more drones at the front, because the courage of Ukrainians in combination with technology will be key to the future victory,” said Mykhailo Fedorov, Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation, Education, Science and Technology – Minister of Digital Transformation.
Each DJI Mavic 3T Thermal is equipped with a thermal imager and a zoom camera, which allows for reconnaissance even at night. These drones also allow the military to adjust artillery and destroy russian equipment. Thus, drones allow the military to know everything about the enemy.
In the first 9 months of the army’s operation, 3201 drones have been purchased. A total of over UAH 4 billion worth of contracts have been signed. Also, actor Mark Hamill, UNITED24 ambassador, joined the promotion of the Drone Army project. He is raising funds for 10 RQ-35 Heidrun reconnaissance drones.
The Army of Drones is a comprehensive project of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Special Communications Service, the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and UNITED24. (Government portal/Business World Magazine)
