The tasting of the national phase of the contest for the best house wine, the Golden Barrel, annually organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), took place in Chisinau. 127 out of those over 500 wine samples, presented by wine-makers from various districts of Moldova, competed at the 2023 edition of the contest.
According to CCI president, Sergiu Harea, the contest has been organized since 2002, in order to highlight the best house wine producers, promote the consumption culture and make the exchange of good practices, which deal with the vine-growing and wine-making activity.
“This year, we have received a pretty large number of house wine samples from all regions of Moldova. We are happy that this tradition is not lost; moreover, householders manage to surprise us with qualitative and competitive wines. And because the good wines represent a value for Moldova, CCI is set, at the future harvest, to provide support to householders, in order to produce house wine, which might compete also at the international events. Thus, we intend to organize trainings in this field,” Sergiu Harea noted.
The regional stage of the contest took place in February-March, at CCI branches. During those 20 previous editions of the contest, about 9,500 wine samples were presented, of which over 200 became winning and were presently on shelves of shops from Moldova.
The contest’s winners will be announced and will receive prizes at the National Wine Day, which is traditionally marked in October. The grand prize is the Golden Barrel. (Moldpres/Business World Magazine)
