President Maia Sandu, during the three days of the World Economic Forum, has had discussions on the situation in the region with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Prime Minister of Spain Pedro Sanchez, as well as with PM of Ireland Leo Varadkar. All the four leaders are expected to come to Chisinau at the second meeting of the European Political Community in June.
According to the presidential press service, the head of state spoke also with important world leaders from the global business environment, among whom Markus Krebber, the executive director of the German concert RWE AG – European leader in the energy sector, including the renewable energy, as well as Levent Cakiroglu, the executive director of the Koc holding, the biggest industrial group from Turkey. President Maia Sandu spoke with her interlocutors about the opportunities offered by Moldova’s market and urged them to consider possibility to extend their businesses in Moldova.
The head of state also exchanged opinions with Chair of the Open Society Foundations Alex Soros about the projects carried out by his foundation in Moldova. Maia Sandu also discussed with the former British prime minister, director of the Institute for Global Changes Tony Blair ways of enhancing the efficiency of the public institutions.
On the last day in Davos, President Maia Sandu participated in a discussion hosted by the editorial office of the Washington Post newspaper, where she touched upon the regional security agenda. (Moldpres/Business World Magazine)
