Spain was Georgia’s major foreign direct investor country in the third quarter of 2022 with $165.9 million, followed by the United Kingdom with $122.9 million and Ireland with $120.3 million, the National Statistics Office of Georgia reported.
The top three sectors with the largest share of FDI in the third quarter of 2022 were as follows: real estate – $265.3 million, financial, insurance – $159 million and arts, entertainment and recreation activities – $143.2 million.
Overall, foreign direct investments in Georgia totaled $745.3 million in the third quarter, doubling from the adjusted data of Q3 2021.
Geostat also said equity was six times higher in Q3 2022 from the previous year and amounted to $226 million, which was also 30.3% of the total foreign direct investment. Reinvestment amounted to $446.9, with its share of total FDI standing at 60%. (Agenda/Business World Magazine)
