Lithuania has thrown away some 46,600 coronavirus vaccines after they expired, the Health Ministry has said.
Some 36,200 doses were disposed of in April and another 10,400 in May.
“So far, we have only disposed of Moderna vaccines due to their expiration date,” Lukas Galkus, an adviser at the Health Ministry, said, adding that there wree plans to destroy another 21,600 doses in May.
“We continue our effort to find countries we could donate the vaccines to,” he said.
In total, nearly 7.96 million coronavirus vaccine doses have been delivered to Lithuania, which has already donated 1.11 million doses to other countries. Lithuania still has some 2.37 million unused doses. (LRT/Business World Magazine)
