Representatives of a company from Turkey have shown interest in apples produced in Moldova.
Members of the Moldova Fruct Association, apple producers, last week were visited by representatives of Turkish company, which owned one of the biggest areas of orchards in Moldova (850 hectares) and sold apples in India, Middle East and Russia.
“The company is willing to initiate cooperation with producers from Moldova and purchase big volumes of apples, which they are to sell preponderantly in India. They are interested in the varieties Gala, Red Delicious, Red Chief, Braeburn, Jeromine and Granny Smith, which are to be packed in Cargo Bushel boxes of 18 kg each,” Moldova Fruct said.
According to the association, in August, a group of producers from Moldova plan to have a trip to the Turkish company, in order to study the exact requirements for the variety, quality, caliber and packing.
The mission was organized by the Moldova Fruct Association and the High Value Agriculture Activity in Moldova Project of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). (Moldpres/Business World Magazine)
