A total of 14,600 tons of Georgian hazelnuts have been exported from August 1 to November 28 valued at $66.8 million, the Georgian Agriculture Ministry announces.
In January-October, the export of Georgian hazelnuts and other nuts increased by 31.1% YoY, the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat) reported.
Georgian hazelnuts were exported to the following EU countries: Italy (5,957 tons), Germany (2,628 tons), Spain (424 tons), the Czech Republic (423 tons), Poland (337 tons), Lithuania (284 tons), France (239 tons), Bulgaria (132 tons), Greece (71 tons), Latvia (70 tons), Estonia (60 tons), Belgium (41 tons), Hungary (22 tons) and Croatia (20 tons).
Georgian hazelnuts were also exported to: Armenia (930 tons), China (780 tons), Ukraine (256 tons), Russia (337 tons), Algeria (241 tons), Saudi Arabia (218 tons), Belarus (186 tons), Iraq (168 tons), Switzerland (151 tons), Mexico (120 tons), Canada (95 tons) and others.
As a result of the spread of the brown marmorated stink bug in Georgia, hazelnut production and exports have been in decline since 2016. (Agenda/Business World Magazine)
