Oleksandr Kornienko, First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, insists that the draft law on the 2022 State Budget of Ukraine (No. 6000) should be considered as early as this plenary week, which will last from November 30 to December 3.
The comment came during a meeting of the Conciliation Council on November 29.
“We understand that one of the main functions of the legislature is the budget one. We expect the next year’s draft budget to be filed by the government soon. I would like us to consider it this week because leaving such an important process for the last parliamentary week would be a risky endeavor. According to the calendar, we have no more issues to address in the session hall so there’ll be work in constituencies and within the committees. No, we need to consider the project so that we don’t find ourselves in a situation on New Year’s Eve where we need to return to the session hall,” said the first vice speaker.
At the same time, the first deputy chair of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction, Andriy Motovylovets called on the Cabinet of Ministers on December 1 to table in the Verkhovna Rada a draft law on the 2022 State Budget of Ukraine, finalized for the second reading.
In addition, he asked chairmen of parliamentary committees to prepare for the swift elaboration of the relevant draft, so that its final version could be considered at the plenary session on December 2. (Ukrinform/Business World Magazine)
