In the second quarter of 2021, the number of employed people aged 15-70 increased by 2.6% QoQ, to 15.8 million people, according to the press service of the Ministry of Economy.
“According to the results of the second quarter of 2021, there is a positive dynamics in the labor market. Thus, according to the State Statistics Service, the number of employed people aged 15-70 grew by 2.6% compared to the first quarter of 2021 and amounted to 15.8 million. At the same time, the unemployment rate of the population aged 15-70 rose to 9.3% (10.5% in Q1 2021),” reads the report.
The ministry notes that the positive changes are a response to revived economic activity, improved business expectations of producers, higher real wages, intensified labor migration in the world, as well as the introduction of some government initiatives to keep and create new jobs. In particular, the government’s campaign to reduce the level of unofficial jobs had a positive effect on the increase in the number of officially employed people. (Ukrinform/Business World Magazine)
