Georgia’s external trade turnover amounted to $7.48 billion in January-July, up by 21.8% YoY, showed preliminary data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
The value of exports increased by 27.8% and totaled $2.27 billion, while imports increased by 19.3%, to $5.20 billion.
The trade deficit of Georgia in January-July amounted to $2.93 billion, or 39.2% of total trade turnover.
Economy Minister Natia Turnava said that increased export meant increased production, more jobs and income.
She said that the promotion of exports and export industries was among the priority areas of the government. (Agenda/Business World Magazine)
