On the Via Baltica highway that spans across the Baltic States, road works take place on its Latvian section near Saulkrasti. The works make the travel by car longer by approximately one hour, state road network operator Latvijas Valsts Celi informs.
The traffic on the A1 highway near the seaside town of Saulkrasti is the slowest in rush hours, as workers travel to Riga in the morning and back in the evening.
Other road works on key highways include the Jelgava highway (A8) in the Zemgale region. Here, from Jaunolaine to the bridge over the River Misa, also an extra hour will be required to drive the highway.
In total, this summer, road works take place in Latvia on more than 80 sections of state- and regional-level roads. The current information on the exact places of the works is available on the web site of Latvijas Valsts Celi here. (BNN/Business World Magazine)
