In January-May, the Freeport of Riga handled 10,047,300 tons of cargo, down by 25.8% YoY.
According to the port’s statistics, handing of grain increased by 18.3%, to 804,500 tons, coal handling fell by 64.4%, to 4.36 million tons, chemical cargo – by 18.1%, to 587,100 tons, ore – by 16.9%, to 283,100 tons, and oil products – by 28%, to 1.13 tons. At the same time wood pellets grew by 14.8%, to 928,400 tons, wood chips – by 22.7%, to 573,100, and sawn timber – 1.8-fold, to 237,000 tons.
The port’s container throughput fell by 4%, to 190,364 TEUs.
Passenger turnover dropped by 62.3%, to 111,548 people, with no cruise passengers transported in the reported period. (PortNews/Business World Magazine)
