Georgia’s external trade turnover amounted to $3.46 billion in January-April, down by 11.8% YoY, showed preliminary data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
The value of exports decreased by 11.9% and reached $778.2 million, while imports decreased by 11.8%, to $2.46 billion.
The trade deficit of Georgia in January-April amounted to $1.46 billion, or 42.2% of total trade turnover.
Turkey, Russia and Azerbaijan were Georgia’s top trading partners in January-April.
Trade turnover with Turkey reached $469.3 million, $395.7 million with Russia and $367 million with Azerbaijan.
Georgia’s top exported commodities in January-April were copper ores and concentrates – $215.7 million (21.5% of total exports), motorcars – $134.8 million (13.5%) and ferroalloys – $91.8 million (9.2%).
Meanwhile, the top import commodities were motorcars – $186.1 million (7.6% of total imports), petroleum and petroleum oils – $171.2 million (7%), copper ores and concentrates – $166.1 million (6.7%). (Agenda/Business World Magazine)
