Georgia has exported 28,855 tons of tangerines as of January 15, announces the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.
The export of tangerines grew by 29.36% compared to the 2017-2018 season.
Georgian tangerines were mainly exported to: Russia – 19,267 tons, Ukraine – 6,280 tons, Armenia – 2,690 tons, Uzbekistan – 261 tons, Kazakhstan – 138 tons, Belarus – 120 tons, Kyrgyzstan – 60 tons and Latvia – 40 tons.
The price of tangerines varies from 0.40 GEL to 0.70 GEL.
Additionally, about 11,855 tons of non-standard tangerines were delivered to factories for non-food processing.
Adjara’s local government subsidizes non-standard tangerines and pays 10 tetri for every kilogram of lower quality yields to be processed and not sold as fruit. (Agenda/Business World Magazine)
