Georgia exported about 68.3 million bottles of wine to 53 countries in the first 10 months of 2018, announces the Georgian National Wine Agency.
In January-October Georgia generated $162 million from the sale of wine abroad.
Revenue increased by 20% YoY, while the volume of exports grew by 12%, said the Georgian National Wine Agency.
Export growth was notable in the following countries: Japan – a 50% increase (199,997 bottles), Poland – a 30% increase (2,788,029 bottles) and Great Britain – a 50% increase (103,724 bottles).
Among European countries and the US Georgia exported 99,774 bottles to Romania (+477%), 33,450 bottles to the Czech Republic (+70%), 63,951 bottles to the Netherlands (+39%), 113,297 bottles to France (+15%) and 464,792 bottles to Estonia (+12%).
Turkmenistan increased impost by 102% (135,294 bottles), Mongolia – 44% (162,390 bottles), Kyrgyzstan – 37% (179,610 bottles), Ukraine – 34% (8,346,700 bottles) and Kazakhstan – by 16% (3,112,202 bottles).
The top five countries that imported the most bottles of Georgian wine in January-October were: Russia (42,344,328), Ukraine (8,346,700), China (5,410,667), Kazakhstan (3,112,202) and Poland (2,788,029 bottles).
Meanwhile, Georgia exported 15.7 million bottles of brandy (+15%) and 322,000 bottles of Chacha (+47%) abroad in January-October.
In total, Georgia sold $252.1 million worth of alcoholic beverages in January-October 2018, including wine, brandy, chacha and others. (Agenda/Business World Magazine)
