About $60 billion is required to implement Ukraine’s transport strategy until 2030, Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan has said.
“It will cost about $60 billion until 2030. It is already clear that more than half of this amount will come from the state budget, at the expense of the Road Fund, Ukrzaliznytsia, the Sea Ports Authority, based on those sources of funding and annual budgets that they have,” Omelyan said.
According to him, the rest of this amount is to be attracted in the form of public-private partnership, concessions and foreign direct investment.
Ukraine’s transport strategy until 2030 provides for the construction of ten highways, concession roads, over a hundred weigh stations, a 90% reduction in the number of injuries on the roads, replacement of minibuses, the construction of a Tesla Motors plant and the creation of five airline hubs, replacement of the entire fleet of railway cars and locomotives, bringing Ukrainian ports to the list of the world’s 100 best ports, and an increase in postal services by 70%.
