In June mayonnaise production by Ukraine’s large and medium-sized plants totaled 10.5 thousand tons, i.e. it recovered to the level of June 2017.
Mayonnaise output in the reporting month was the second largest this year, but it still remained below the four-year average of 11.2 thousand tons. Although it gained almost 2% from May, this could not offset the negative consequences of the May slump in mayonnaise production.
Production volumes in January-June stood down year-over-year for a second straight month (-2%), amounting to 58.4 thousand tons against 59.6 thousand tons a year ago. Thus, mayonnaise output remains persistently at a more than 15-year low.
An expected seasonal rise in mayonnaise production towards the end of the year still suggests that its 2018 total may reach 124-125 thousand tons – this would be as much as in the previous two seasons. (UNIAN/Business World Magazine)
