Georgia exported 38.2 million bottles of wine to 48 countries in the first six months of 2018, announces the Georgian National Wine Agency.
In January-June Georgia generated about $90.3 million from the sale of wine abroad.
Revenue increased by 28% YoY, while the volume of exports increased by 21%, said the Georgian National Wine Agency.
Export growth was notable in the following countries: Japan – up by 200% (130,638 bottles), the Czech Republic – by 134% (30,456 bottles), Kyrgyzstan – by 81%(140,370 bottles), South Korea – by 78% (31,650 bottles) and the Netherlands – by 68% (38,799 bottles).
The top five countries that imported the most bottles of Georgia wine in January-June were: Russia – 24,022,113 bottles, Ukraine – 4,191,217 bottles, China – 2,975,804 bottles, Kazakhstan – 1,652,292 bottles and Poland – 1,573,328 bottles.
In the reporting period 190 companies exported their wines abroad, said the Georgian National Wine Agency.
Meanwhile, Georgia exported 8.4 million bottles of brandy (+23%) and 178,000 bottles of chacha (+100%) abroad. (Agenda/Business World Magazine)
