Ukraine and Denmark successfully cooperate in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency, Chairman of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine Sergiy Savchuk said during the 2nd Ukraine Reform Conference in Copenhagen (Denmark).
In particular, Savchuk noted that the foundation for the partnership had been laid by the bilateral Memorandum of Understanding signed during the official visit of President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko to Denmark in 2017.
“The partnership is certainly beneficial as the share of renewable energy in the final energy consumption of Denmark in 2016 reached 32%. The country plans to achieve the share of 35% of clean energy by 2020 and that of 100% by 2050,” the statement reads.
The Ukrainian official noted that Denmark intended to increase the electricity production by wind farms up to 50% by 2020.
“Denmark owes this kind of success partially to the companies that work in this area and expand their activities in Ukraine. For example, in 2017, the Danish company Vestas became the leader among the wind turbine manufacturers and provided the wind farm projects in Ukraine with the wind generators with a total capacity of 300 MW. The recent orders include the wind turbines for the wind farms with a capacity of 41 MW,” Savchuk noted. (Ukrinform/Business World Magazine)
