In January-September the Port of Tallinn handled 14.25 million tons of cargo, down by 9.2% YoY. According to the Port Authorities, transshipment of containers climbed by 5.5%, to 157,050 TEUs.
Transshipment of general cargo grew by 18.5%, to 509,200 tons, dry bulk cargo – by 5%, to 2,857,200 tons, liquid bulk cargo dropped by 27%, to 5.71 million tons, Ro-Ro cargo grew by 11.3%, to 3.78 million tons.
The number of vessels’ calls increased by 6.3%, to 5,959, including 4,686 calls of passenger ships (+9.7%) and 1,273 calls of cargo ships (-4.9%).
Port of Tallinn ranks fourth largest seaport, next to St. Petersburg, Primorsk and Ust-Luga, on the Baltic Sea. The Port comprises five so-called port zones: Muuga, Old City Harbor, Paljassaare, Paldiski South and Saaremaa. In 2016 throughput at Tallinn port totaled 20.12 million tons.
